it is most easily understood to follow a story told from its beginning through its body to the end. However, it is not always easiest to recall and retell a story from the beginning when one finds one's self lost at the end or potentially somewhere in the middle...

my vision is out of focus -- i am retreating into sinful pleasures to hide from the battle. i relax i lapse i get lazy. i let down my guard and the enemy patiently slips in at his easiest time, and i find myself welcoming him little by little as he enters so gently. I put forth mild resistance because when the outter defenses fall, there is so much else inside that it is difficult to fight the battle within the city walls.
